if you want to swap to a gen3 topend (highly recommended) you will need the heads, intake manifiolds, throttle body, basically everything on top of a newer motor. you will also need to swap power steering pumps because the gen2 pumps resevoir doesnt clear the lower gen3 manifold. the entire write up on this can be found at domesticcrew.com. its very informative. one other thing, many people here, including myself have swapped to a 3500 upper intake manifold because it yields more power throughout the rpm range than a 3400 upper intake manifold. i think they look better too but thats my opinion.

The knock sensor needs to match the computer being used. If the stock ECM is maintained, then the stock KS will work.-Brad-

the green temp wire that goes to the back of the rear cyclinder head gets cut and spliced into the 3 wire cts used byt the newer 3x00 engine
as the 3.1 used a 2 wire cts the 3rd wire comes from the back of the head-the newer 3x00 engines don't use 2 cts's like the 3.1's
clear things up now?sigpic
