Not according to everyone else they weren't. I've seen a lot of people on here and over at grandamgt.com with late year '00 or '01 heads that had to either grind the ls1shims because they wouldn't fit over the guides, or go with the chrysler shims and valve seals that were found to fit. Here's a thread. http://60degreev6.com/showthread.php...ht=spring+swap On my particular 2000 heads they fit just fine, but my car was made in like march of '00 and the engine was probably assembled in '99 so it had the old diameter.

Gotta love boost!
(not sure if this has been covered, but . . .) I'd like to point out that the difference isn't limited to the 3400 motors, either. The spare '00 heads that I have came off a 3100 Malibu, same exact part number and casting as the '99 3400 heads, but the valve guide is larger. Not sure of when the motor was assembled, though, as I never had access to the car. But 100% certain the motor is a 2000 model.

Also good to know. Good info. So they probably changed all the valve guides in both motors around the same time.

Where can you get the toyota land cruiser spring seats??
My uncles shop made it sound like they couldn't get them. And a local machine shop said they come with the springs..
I'm guessing you'd have to go to the dealership.
On that topic, what other/newer cars came with 3.1s that I can use their valve stem seals? I asked the GM dealership for a set for a '90 3.1L and they said they were discontinued.
1990 Chevrolet Beretta GT *new project*
1990 Pontiac Tempest LE *GONE* ~formally 3400/5-speed equipped~
ok so if i were doing this replacement for my 02gagt 3400 i would use the 2.2l seals, the ls1 shims, and ls6 springs? should i notice less vavle float at higher rpm with this upgrade?
your probably not reaching any valve float right now, but for the 02 heads you may be the different valve guides, same as the 3.1's.. I'm not sure on that one.
well i have a dhp 1.0 pcm and it likes to pull in the upper rpms til it shifts from 1-2 6300 2-3 6k and i am getting alot of revs and no power. im actually losing foreward momentum. so i know its not getting enough air for that demand, but ill fix that soon also. just want to know if i go with this upgrade then i wont have to worry so much about losing the power on the upper end. when i get the dhp programmer ill take the WOT shifts down some on the rpms, but i wanna keep it about 5900 or so, so i wanna make sure my engine will breathe...N/A
