today the motor went in my 03 malibu, dont know what happened, i was just going at a steady speed, and then there was a shudder in the car, and the motor wouldnt gain any rpm and was knocking really bad, i am sure it is junk, i was wondering if a 3400 would go right in place of the 3100? i know thay are they are basically the same except for bore, they use the same cam and heads and injectors, and the same lower manifold, and all the same sensors, could i just drop a 3400 with out any problems? what about the pcm? i have done engine swaps before but not on a newer computer car

turns out a valve spring broke, and dropped a valve into the the piston, that seems odd to me, i thought the 3100 motors where pretty much bullet proof, mine only had 55,000 on it to, pisses me off, i guess it gives me an oppurtunity to drop a 3400 in it know

The Warranty Is 3 Yrs 36000 Miles Unless You Have An Extended Warranty, And I Bought The Car Used, So Know Warranty, I Have A Connection Though On Used Parts And Can Get Either A 3100 Or A 3400 For Only $450 Each, The 3100 Has Only 30,000 Miles On It, And 3400 Has 38,000 Miles, I Am Leaning Toward The 3400 For The Extra Power
