  • Engine Rebuild kits

Well my brother is getting a project car in the coming weeks, Its a 88 beretta with a 2.8. The car has bad bearings. We have been looking for engine rebuild kits for a while. We just want to do a stock rebuild. The problem is we havent been able to find anything. Does anyone know any websites or companies that offer rebuild kits for a 2.8 or 3.1 engine. Thanks! :P

Phone all of your local rebuild shops. Ask for a re-ring kit or all the part's sepperate. You need a engine gasket kit, rings, bearings rod/main. If you phone as many shops as you can the prices vary alot. But if you go this route you will need a ridge reamer (rent one) and a deglazier (hone $20-30) plus you should lap the valves and replace the valve seals (under a buck each). Also, when it is torn down like that you should spend the extra bucks and get a cam/lifter kit. The cam may look allright but could be very worn on 1-2 lobes and cause what seems like a light miss you just can't find. I have found kit's ranging from 200-300 bucks. With a cheap cam (there are no name cams out there for CHEAP that are made by the company who makes the 2.8 edel cams) and lifters are cheap. The prices I use are in cdn $.
Why pay someone to do the work, it costs alot and you don\'t learn s*^t!!!

And you can request a free cataloge on their site. I think they must have more stuff than in the cataloge too. I emailed about an engine not listed, and got a quote on a kit from them.
