Cam bearing Q

I finally tore down my 3400 today and just by chance i decided to pull the cam to make sure it was ok... the cam looks fine aside from some very light pitting on the lobes, which is probably normal for a 30K+ 3400... but i noticed that the first cam bearing was a little odd looking :/ ... it's dead smooth but check this out:



Maybe that's why the top end was ticking so bad.. lol

Time to take the block in for new ones

um, not true.

as long as you keep everything clean and put it back together with assembly lube you can swap cams all day long.

Interesting. Only my inner journals were ground up, but the outter bearings looked about the same:



The the bearing is not 1 solid piece, but tounge and groove linked...

I'm curious to see how these Durabond bearings for a SBC held up.
