  • Noob to 60*s

I recently totaled my bonneville and picked up a 90 3.1l regal.
I'm looking to get some more out of the motor but don't really want to go nuts.
    So heres the questions..

If I read right, you can use 3400 exhaust manifolds on a gen 2 heads but you have to use the 3400 gaskets and fab up a new downpipe/connection?
It really looks tight in there with the double dog bone mounts in the front..

Is the FFP underdrive crank pulley is only available through group purchace?

Say I decide to do a 3x00 top end swap, would I also be able to convert to SFI? If so how difficult would that be?

Thanks in advance for any input.

its not worth converting to sfi

going with a 3400 top end is prolly your best bet

Yeah, to do SFI you'd need a cam position sensor and I think a different crank sensor. Not worth it when you realize SFI is only SFI until like 3000 rpms then it reverts to MPFI

ohh ok thanks for the replies.
But I would like to do things little by little since I don't have much time/$.
So, anyone know if the 3400 exhaust manis would work?

yeah they will work but if u have little time and money and experience idk if you shoudl attemt it, fabbing a new downpipe takes some work and money if your doing it

            start with basic bolt ons

I'd be comfortable with fabbing a new DP. Shouldn't take more than a saturday to do the whole install. Maybe even get a DP from a 3400 equipped car?
If not a 2.5" j-bend, flange, and reducer should do it. Not too much $$.
Right now I'm helping a friend fad up some log manis for his turbo conversion:

I've also welded up cutouts etc. before too. So it's not like I have crazy experience or anything but I probably have enough.

What are some basic bolt-ons I could do aside from a CAI, underdrive pulley, or other exhaust work?
