  • Coated skirt, hyper 3.4 pistons?

I haven't found any 3.4 camaro H pistons with the coated skirts. Anyone use any or should I keep looking? Considering just using the DOHC pistons again now that I will be using 3500 heads (which have a larger combustion chamber).

Can you not get H coated 3400 pistons? Is that the deal? Do DOHC pistons up the CR on a 3400?

Yeah, stock replacement pistons from speed pro are coated but I want high compression. DOHC pistons will raise it a lot. Not sure exactly but yeah, its a lot. Camaro pistons will give me somewhere between 11 and 12:1 I think with the 3500 heads. I want closer to 12:1 though but I also want to measure a camaro piston since I hear so many figures for what it does. I want to CC it myself. DOHC pistons are about 5cc total in the valve relief cuts (4.5cc). Stock 3400 is in the 30s. I posted what it is but didn't look it up again before I started this post.

Custom cam unless cammotion can't do it for some reason. I have to do more testing on the 3500 heads before I have the specs to figure out what I want the cam to be.

Its for a customer with a grand am. Its getting some nice parts

I'd say! Too bad this hot motor isn't going into some light weight platform with a 5spd. Then it might break into mid 13's!! Being able to use a powertuner though is a plus. I'm not that infomred on editing custom chips, but I bet it's not as easy as the GUI in the powertuner!

i have a dozen and a half pistons with rods still attached here from various camaro 3.4L's i've parted out. if you would like a piston to measure the dish on i can ship ya one (i dont need it back...)

however ive never heard of a HyperU piston with a coated skirt for a OHV 3.4L, but im sure that someone could make one

and on a related note: what is the CC of a 3500 head?

Will the 3500 heads bolt up to theblock and the LIM of the 3400, or do you have to use a 3500 LIM? are there any mods that have to be dune, and what type of head gaskets are you using?

Im modifying a set of DOHC pistons right now for it. You have to use the 3500 lower with the 3500 heads. Bolts up to the block, 3400 head gaskets should be just fine.

For now im removing all the sharp edges from the top side and lightly going over the underside casting lines to make sure there is nothing to start a crack or something to flake off and get in the oil. I need to figure out the compression and then decide if I wanna mill the .040 dome down to .020 or so. Im only taking 1.3 grams off each piston.
