  • Fuel Injectors?

    Hi Guys
I just want to know what kind of fuel injectors should I run in my 2002 3400 motor because I want to push anywhere from 300 to 350hp with a turbo and I need to know what kind of fuel injectors I need.

    How much boost? 12-13 PSI?

        On a stock bottom end?

And with a 2002, I would stay away from a rising rate. Just go with boost referenced. The *.1 RR FPR's are for those that can't tune... Like Dodge neons... lol

ballpark? thinking #24 or little bigger depending on boost and fuel pressure. my dad with 6 psi boosted an 87 350TPI with about 380 at the wheels, he used #26 with 54 fuel psi. proally best to get somewhere in the middle. then you can either tune the computer, adjust the fuel psi, or both to fine tune. 350 hp on a stock bottom i believe is fine, although pushing it a little. any more than that, use SBC rods and mill to fit the journals. be sure to install arp rod bolts. the 660 store sells em.

            24 lb/hr injectors probably won't get you 300+ whp. Think more like 36 lb/hr or 42.5 lb/hr injectors for 300+ whp.

It is a good idea to change out the fuel pump, and I would say 42.5# injectors... Anything less, you'll see some high IPW's (from what I have seen). Using a RR FPR would work, since it has for some, but good luck on getting the fueling right...

He didn't say wether he was shooting for 300hp at the crank or the wheels. Thats an important destinction. If it's crank, I'd say 28lb injectors would do it. I was already there on stock injectors albiet pretty much maxed out. 300+ at the wheels, I'd definitely say 36lb or 42lb injectors. He can definitely do it on 10-12psi with proper tuning and a good intercooler. He's gonna need tranny work next though.

The point is, that was a V8. He can run smaller injectors and make more hrosepower. His 24 lb/hr injectors are equivalent to a 6 cylinder with 36 lb/hr injectors. I wasn't trying to say that your dad didn't do that, I was just trying to say that 6 cylinder engines and 8 cylinder engines need different sized injectors for the same horsepower.

RR FPR's should let you get close to 300 whp with a Walbro pump on stock injectors. They will make it quite difficult to tune correctly though. A RR FPR will get you 90% there for low boost, but be very careful of high boost (10 psi +) with a RR FPR (FMU). Mine crapped out around 9 psi and forced me to upgrade to 42.5 lb/hr injectors to run over 9 psi.
