i plan on getting P&P 3400 intake manifolds and a 62mm tb and swapping them on my 96 monte carlo with the 3100. Would i see any more gain if i swapped the 3400 heads as well porting them to match the 3400 intakes and porting the heads. I dont want to use new valves, or pistons just yet but could i still get them ported to increase flow? also would i beable to use my 3100 rockers and pushrods if If i used the 3400 heads? What all should I do?

Everything 3100 will work on a 3400. But 3100 heads had smaller intake valves prior to 2000. So get 3400 heads cuz they have larger valves or 3100 heads made after 2000.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

1994-1999 3100s have an intake valve of 1.72".
2000+ 3100s have an intake valve of 1.74".
1996+ 3400s have an intake valve of 1.74".
The exhaust valve is the same for all motors.
Swapping heads isn't going to gain much at all.....maybe 2-3 hp.
Swapping intake manifolds gains around 6-8 horse at best.
So either go get the ENTIRE 3400, +20 hp, (I swapped one in for $550...that was EVERYTHING.) or headers, +18 hp,which should cost $500-$750.
Aside from bolt-ons like intake, exhaust, or an UDP.....those are the two best choices.-1996 Beretta

Intake valves on the newer heads is actually 1.76", not 1.74".-Brad-

Okay, so I didn't remember the exact opening of the neck....59 mm.
Trust me on this one, porting alone will get you know where. I can show you a dyno chart of a Beretta Z26 with Street Arsenal Stage 2 heads and ported upper and lower intake manifolds.....those mods made an additional 8 hp. We have a pretty good idea of how the other mods performed. This was with the stock exhaust manifolds....the shitty 3100 in fact. Get headers first.....they make 18 whp....then porting.-1996 Beretta

i perdict 168 Hp at the wheels or under 16 seconds for the 1/4 mile remember im doing headers, P&P 3400 intake manifolds also bored to 62 mm at the opening to match the tb, fenderwall cai, ffp ud pulley, dual/y piped exhaust.
anybody wanna perdict any thing different>? i want numbers not post whore answers like i dont think u will get that much hp which i might not

Well, to be honest, no one knows what headers and 3400 intake manifolds will do.....no one has done it. So my prediction would be completely worthless as it wouldn't be based on fact...only what I think.
Saying that.....stock 3100s seem to make 122 whp. Headers are worth 18...140 whp....my dyno chart says an intake is worth 5 whp....145....FFP says there UDP makes 5 whp......150 whp.....exhaust seems to make 7 whp....157. Now, the manifolds....I honestly don't even no where to begin to guess these on a motor that has everything else correctly done. Think you can make 11 whp of these? I don't know.
Just as long as you are getting headers...good....great. Very good and very great in fact.
Now, how much is the 3400 upper intake manifold swap going to cost you? Keep this in mind.....I did my 3400 swap for $550....that includes everything...motor, fluids, seals, gaskets, and any new sensors or parts needed.-1996 Beretta
