  • tb bypass mod and 62 mm tb

i know this has been discussed before but i want to get a 62mm tb for my 3100 but in april i plan to change to 3400 P&P intake manifolds well im just wondering if there are any coolant lines on the 62mm ones or if i have to do the bypass mod. im pretty sure that they arent form looking at pictures but does anybody know what size bend i need for the byapss mod?

The 62mm unit from FDP and APOC doesn't have the coolant lines. As far as the bend you need for the bypass, I want to say its a 90º bend. I know that for around $10 you can actually get a kit directly from GM to do the bypass.

Or you can get a piece of hose from the parts store.

Or you can get a 94-95 Beretta 3100 metal line as they don't have connections for a heated TB.

As far as your other mods go....I'm am still not sold on the 3400 top end swap or bigger TBs. For one, I haven't seen a dyno chart for either mods. Plus, the neck of the upper intake manifold on a 3400 measures 58 mm....so how is anything over that going to perform better.

You should either get the entire 3400 or get a set of headers......which a few people are working on getting made....they make 18 hp on 99+ 3400 N-Bodys.

I agree with the 3400 top end swap AND larger TB. The only thing I accomplished with the 3400 top end was fucking up a set of lifters and being without a car for 2 more days while I tried to figure out exactly what happened. Unless the engine really NEEDS more air, just stick with what you have.

Yeah, its a 90* bend. I just went to a parts store and looked at all the different bends they had and picked the one I needed. I had to cut some off to make it work. I think it 5/8" hose.

Yeah, when you take the existing two hoses off the TB, you'll see two exposed coolant pipes, simply connect them with the bend. Its a short U-shaped, not a full U
