Scan data would not show you if the initial timing has changed. A scan show you the amount of advance/retard relative to the initial timing setting. The ECM has no way of knowing where the initial timing is set. The ECM only knows the crank position because of the feedback from the sensors. Advancing the timing with this mount would be the same as advancing the distributor on an engine. On DIS systems, the computer replaces the springs (mechanical advance) and vacuum advance of a traditional distributor.

Realistically, you could advance or retard the crank and cam sensors on any engine and the ECM/PCM would never know the difference. It would be harder to do on an engine with a 7x, 24x & cam sensor, but it's pretty easy on OBD-I since it only has one crank sensor.

The only way to see if the timing has really changed would be to set up timing marks (or degree wheel) and check the timing with a timing light.

    I hope this makes sense.

Edit: You would not need to remove the dampner to install the wheel. I put a small mark on the wheels for orientation. Simply remove the dampner retaining bolt and look at the key. The hole marked with the dimple goes on the spoke that is centered with the key. (The dampner must be removed and changed on the 3500's since they do not have the three mounting holes or 24X ring.)

Ahh nice. Now we just have to figure out the bracket thing. I would assume that if you had a 3100 setup car you'd need to swap the 3400 pulley, or does the 3500 have the same 24x sensor ring in there?
