    Uhh... this stroker kit is for 2.8 - 3.4, not 2.8 - 3400.......

the point exactly... why would you want to make a 2.8 into a 3.4 when you could use the significantly better Gen 3 heads that are already on a 3400? (and not to mention be much more within tolearances of the engine for a future rebuild)

that was the original comment about the heads... why use the old 2.8 Gen 2 stuff when you could start out with the much better Gen 3 stuff, not to mention that the engine is already a 3.4!

Distributor vs DIS....not everyone wants to rewire for a different ignition system. The stock exhaust manifolds wont work either (maybe they can be ground out to fit?).

Well, that would be if you were replacing a Gen 1 engine i guess...

replacing a Gen 2 that stuff really isn't too much of an issue

The only iron head head to get DIS was the 3.4, so saying gen 2 makes little relevance in the Iron head engines since they didn't get changes at the same time as the aluminum head engines.

is the 3.4 RWD iron-head engine considered a Gen 2?

i thought just the FWDs had the Gen 2 and Gen 3 engines...

the gen 1 was small journal crank 2.8. gen 2 was 85/86+ for the iron heads. I dunno what year exactly, I think 85 official, 86 practical for some platforms.

The Gen II is an aluminum head. The gen III is an aluminum head feature a .04 larger intake valve diameter and has a reshaped intake port flows 16.7% better than gen II , has d shaped exhaust ports 31.7% more flow than gen II

The Iron heads are gen nothing. No Iron head is refered by generation, The castings are identical , only the seats are cut wider for the h.o. valves.

I reapeat , the Iron castings from the start never changed ever. NEVER.

Besides getting a 3.4 engine, maybe purchase a 3.1, bore it, and rebuild it with a 3.4 master kit? The master kits come with pistons, and the 3.1 is the same crank.

Check out " engine-parts.com". They have stroker kit for 2.8L to 3.4L. I plan on putting a 2000 ,3100 in my 1987 Z24. But first I want to do the 3.1L to 3.4L stroker, then do some mods to the heads. I work at GM Dealership and was able to get my hands on a 3100 we took out of a 2001 Chevy Lumina. The motor had only 24k mile on it. The owner was complaining of a cold knock. GM warrentied it, and I got the old motor at no cost.
