3.1 to 3400 top end swap ????

i am thinking of doing this swap what kind of gains are you guys getting with this swap any dynoed results would be great or any other info on this matter would be helpful

Is your motor a 3.1mpfi? Or a 94+ 3100?

Rough guess is with a 3.1L displacement and the 3400 heads/intakes you'd be at the new style 2000+ 3100. So ~170-175hp. Of course it could be less since the computer may not be optimally tuned, or it could be more if you have exhaust work done/etc.

wow if its possible to get 180 out of these cars with just some exhaust work, 3400 heads, and tuning, ive gotta try this ou (once my car is running again, that is...lol). good luck man.

Well, if you look at the stock 3100/3400 numbers, and then you change the top end, the only difference from a stock 3100 is the bottom end, and if you are displacing the same, a good tune should produce the stock numbers.

I'm guessing here, but if you had a 3400, add cam, UDP, headers, exhaust, CAI, 3500 plenum (or 3500 whole top end; heads up), maybe a little more compression, 65mm TB, and a good tune so it runs optimally, you could see 240hp at the crank, maybe more... Don't forget a correct port and polish.. Remember I'm just guessing, but I believe it to be possible.

i did the hybrid swap but added a heavy cam, i am now just getting it to run right should be taken it for a spin this weekend.

but i am hopen for around at least 200whp

all stock a hybrid is suppose to be in the 14's

Syn, did you use a 3500 plenum? I can't remember. Anywho was the injector o-ring hole vacuum leak the only problem? Or was a coil or two bad?

no i opted for the 3400 as money was a issue as time was. the only probs i have now is idleing at closed loop it won't idle at all. its almost like its in limp mode
