Steel would have the best bet of being drop in since it needs less mass to accomplish the same strength.
If you are going to wait for them to be tested, you probably won't get them unless another batch is made. How many miles do you want? Seriously, while it would be great to do testing first, its not feasible unless you got years to wait for real world results.
