If yoiur engine is a VIN T 3.1 94 and earlier You can start by obtaining a set of rocker arms from a '93-'95 3100 v6 engine. Rocker Ratio is 1.6 as ossed to the standard 1.5. Also you can obtain a set of fuel injectors from a GM 3300 v6, the combination of those two will give your motor some extra kick.Lorenzo

Not so sure on the rockers and injectors. 94 and earlier has me confused, as there was both 3.1mpfi and 3100sfi in 94 depending on the vehicle. The 3100 would need heads with the notches in the bolt holes for the new style rockers to work, and I'm not sure that they will even work or clear the valve covers on the 3.1mpfi motors.
The 3300 injectors, not sure on the size of those, but must flow more, but if your car isn't tuned for them, then it will cause you to run rich and have driveability issues....sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

I agree 3300 injectors would be a waste.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

Ok...'93 to '95 3100 used stamped steel rockers similar to the GEN1-2. The 3300 Buick V6 injectors are a step higher over the 2.8/3.1 injectors. And the engine runs very well with them. I've tried this a number of times, it works, try it out. These are junkyard items that can be had for virtually nothing.Lorenzo

betterthanyou: ya I didn't catch the 94-96 part, I was thinking of the rollers. But would they clear a gen2 valve cover without swapping to gen3 valve covers?
gpse3400: whats the lb/hr on the 3300's? Odd that the factory gen2 would be lacking in fuel on a stock motor or mildy modded...sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

Yeah, the 3300 injectors are a step over the 3.1 from what I remeber. Whatever the number are its not enough to flood it out by any means. All I know is that when I run with those injectors on that engine the motor feels stronger. The 3100 rocker arms will clear gen 2 covers. The 3100 roller rockers will clear gen2 covers as well.Lorenzo

do a tune up with a good set of wires too. you might be smarter than the other people that seem to be showing up lately and have already done so. but since i dunno you, i cant tell. there isnt any point in trying for 110% unless your already running 100%If you aren't friends with a liar, you aren't friends with anyone.

gpse: Hmm. Interesting. sappy said that he has issues with gen2 cover and comp roller tipped 1.52:1 hitting the metal plate. I might look back into swapping to a gen2 front cover b/c they look better if you are for sure the rockers clear it. Do you happen to know if the coolant pipe on the 3100 that goes over the gen3 cover would clear a gen2 in it's place? Not sure if the gen2 sits out further than a gen3 or not. I want to swap for looks only. I'll polish the front edge and paint the rest... Maybe even chevy decal or a bowtie like the 3.4l beretta pace car motor...
doubt: very good point. I try to keep my motor running like new, but a lot of people over look basic maintenence. Change your plugs, and wires if they need it. Maybe that's why my 3100 w/180k on it runs so much better than other peoples with less miles? hahha.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

180K, pfft... dads been riding on borrowed time with his original 3100 century, 240K+, lol!
all the same, good maintenance is exactly what it means, maintain. and if you dont do maintainence in any way shape or form, or even know where to begin, thats the first thing you should do. otherwise power adders will speed your motor to an early grave. If you aren't friends with a liar, you aren't friends with anyone.

If your looking for basic performance gains without the headache of searching for parts from other cars, I have a suggestion.
Add Intake, A good Catback, And some headers, and poof youll be happy with the increase in power, not to mention the sound. Thats what I always start all my cars out on. Its the perfect starting point in my oppinion.
