What V6 60 degree engine should I use in a Fiero that is capable of producing 300+ hp? I would just go with a V8 SBC, but I don't want to add the weight and modify the engine compartment. I know that it's possiable for one of these engines to produce that much hp, but there is some money involved. Anything I put in will be a fresh performance rebuild and have all the goodies in it from top to bottom. My whole reason on wanting 300+ hp is because I will use the Fiero chassis to build a Lamborgini Diablo Roadster kit car and I DO NOT want a Mustang or Firebird to leave me in the dust during an event such as street or strip racing. I know most of you here are obvious fans of the V6 in question, but let me honestly know if it's worth it or if I would be happier with the V8 for what I would like to accomplish.

a big block drops in without clearence issues...
but really, i'm a big fan of the 3.4 dohc. before it was released in consumer vehicles it was rated at or near 300hp. then detuned because gm's hydromatic division didn't have a tranny that would handle that at the time. it can be massaged back up to around 300hp n/a during a performance rebuild and i've seen a few conversions to fieros on the net.
almost a bolt in.

Yeah that's what I'm looking for is around 300hp at the wheels. I have a friend that just opened a dyno shop and when I finish it up I will be the first at his door. I know that with a Fiero there are many options, but I would like to stick with a 660. I dunno just something about being an underdog really makes my adrenaline flow. 2 less cylinders is underdog to me, but lets take it to the strip.

Yea I'd do a 3400 too. Much more support and it is a more reliable motor. It can make the same power if need be.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma
1990 4Door, 3.2L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. 4X4. Trooper
