Raven: Quoted from the 60 store in large ported UIM item: "Please be aware that the large port manifolds changed over the years. 96-99 do not have equal flow across all ports." "2000+ have better flow distribution..." I'm guessing the "intake valley baffle" is refering to the 2000+ that helps flow distribution..
Hmm, interesting.......
Physically I have not seen a difference between those mentioned manifolds.
Get the part number on the lower intake for me if you can. Like the heads, I think the lower intakes either changed designs or its the platform difference.
i pulled the heads tonight. the head gaskets were not blown, and the tops of the pistons looked fine albeit dirty. there was alot of loose carbon (i brushed it off before i took pics). i did notice that the #5 exhaust port and valve were a little oily. cylinder walls look good and the engine turns over by hand smoothly so hopefully the rods and crank are fine.
Flip the manifold over and you will see a crease right after the TB route in te 96-99 3400 plenum.
Thats gotta be a newer 3400 unless my head timeline is wrong. The 187 casting is the best stock average head I have seen and I think the 487 is pretty close. Ill check the lower intake numbers when I wake up.
hello first post
I have been searching for information on a engine I have
the casting number on the block is 24507253 same as the picture and post of turbo sedan
what car did the block pictured come out of and what kind of interchange would be available just using block, I ask this because the machine shop in town is interested in the block but not sure if it will work, and I can not remember what car I pulled it out of, to many engine swaps since then
thanks all
