    What is the top RPM for a 3.4?
    Midrange?

    I need it for a tach I'm installing in my Jeep. Yes, Jeep.

    from what i've seen people shifting under 6k are haveing the fastest times

    so 5500-5800

      are we talking a 3.4 DOHC or a 3400 SFI? 3400 makes peak HP at 5600. not a DOHC guy so can't tell you that one.

        This is in pushrod section, so I assume he means either a 3400 or a 3.4 camaro RWD.

          redline is 6K. best to shift the stock iron head motor around 5K, since they dont as well as the aluminums they make all there power aroun 4.5-5K. my cavalier has a 2.8 and the tach went yellow at 5500 then red at 6K

            yeah, redline is 6k, but a stock motor is loosing power there. depends on if you are talking about a 3.1 or a 3400. different powerbands. they both can handle safley rpm to 7K with stock rods.

                i got my old iron heads over 6K but that was an aftermarket cam. stock springs tho. has to have been over 6K since it floated at 63mph in second gear. the tachs on the digital clusters arent worth anything. i "idle" at 3K lol.
