Yes, another Cloyes timing set thread...

Well, I finally got the set. It is part number 9-3137. Cool thing is that it does have an IWIS chain. Not sure if they have always come with one or not. Bad thing is, I'm not certain it is going to work on a 3400.

The stock timing set has a raised piece that sits inside of the cam thrust plate. The cloyes cam gear does not. The only way to mount it would be to eliminate the thrust plate, and modify the cover and use a cam button.

Anyone else ever do this? On a 3400?

You did notice the cam bolt pattern was different, right?

I have not heard of anyone using a double roller on a 3400.

IWIS = German chain manufacturer. Comes with the rollmaster kits too.

As for the bolt pattern, are you referring to the dowel and the holes in the gear?

It is a lost cause for me, and I don't think I'm gonna try to "make" it work. Kinda depressing really

Yes, I was refering to the three bolt pattern as compared to teh single large bolt. You didn't mention running a genI/II cam so I thought I'd point out that difference.

You could eliminate the thrust plate and run a cam button, but I think I'd rather stick with the genIII timing set-up.
