But what were the the actual measurements?

So if you bore a 3400 block .020" (or .030") over, what do you use for head gaskets? Maybe 3500 not-VVT gaskets?

If you go .020 - .030 over, you should be able to use stock gaskets. The stock gasket bore is about 3.715" You would end up seeing a bit of a rise in the compression ratio tho...

I just received the results of the sonic testing on my 3100 block. I will give 4 measurements for each cylinder, Front, Right, Rear, Left. The right will be the odd side of the block (towards the odd cylinders).

            Cyl #1 -Front: 169 Right:225 Rear: 175 Left: 243
            Cyl #2 -Front: 181 Right:214 Rear: 181 Left: 226
            Cyl #3 -Front: 174 Right:167 Rear: 187 Left: 259
            Cyl #4 -Front: 168 Right:218 Rear: 168 Left: 248
            Cyl #5 -Front: 160 Right:213 Rear: 189 Left: 233
            Cyl #6 -Front: 177 Right:207 Rear: 182 Left: 232

            Conclusions:
1]even with a .120 overbore, the thinnest part of this block would still be .100 thick. My machinist is confident that this is thick enough.

2] My measuring method is not that great. My measurement of the rear of cylinder #6 is off by .028

Blackbombshell95 - posting your exact measurements of the cylinder wall thickness of your 3400 would be very helpful.!

what does the displacement work out to on .03 /.06 overbore on a 3400? How much does the compression raise?

                  Iconoclast:

How do you figure a .120 overbore. You can only bore to the minimum of the thinnest cylinder. 0.080 Would put you at .080 at the thinnest cylinder. Your pushing the limits. I would suggest filler support. Is the length supported or unsupported?

0.120" overbore only takes 0.060" from the wall thickness.
