Any guesses what the 3900 would make hp wise without the VVT and Vintake working? What does CAN stand for?

CAN is also more advanced engine diagnostics, came out in '02 I believe.

My scanner was good to '03 and some of the '03 cars were already can2 from what I wqas told, and I think CAN3 came out in '04.

      What does CAN mean?

GM CAN add more crap, they CAN charge you more for less, and it CAN be another reason why mechanics really don't make crap for money because they are always buying more tools to stay current, so GM CAN bang your wallet and CAN bang your ass.
sigpicHow to make High performance Emissions:
A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

CAN = Controller Area Network. It just describes how the new generation of GM ECU's communicate. Much like the change from OBD to OBD2, the new stuff is more advanced, and the current crop of OBD2 tuners and tools won't work with the CAN ECU's.

Any details on the map sensor? I have one off of a 3500, and I pulled the pig tail off of a 98+ Crapalier with a 2200, however it doesnt have the plug end that yours does.

          Thanks,
          Craig

Right, you'll have to splice wires. He got the plug end from something so he made his an adapter to plug into his old style map connector.

I was always under the impression GM's implementation was actually SWCAN (Single Wire Controlller Area Network), but I have not researched for about 2-3 years now. CAN, SWCAN, IDB-1394, MOST.... It is hard to keep up these days.

I have a new MAP sensor, and the 3 plug Map wire from the J-body, where did you find the adapter plug that goes from the Crapalier into the stock N body harness?

                  Thanks,

I just can't understand why more people aren't doing this swap!! its cheap, sounds fairly easy, and seems to add a decent amount of horsepower! i've pretty much killed my dreams of superchargers to do this to my grand am. (i would love to see what a supercharged 3500 could do though...) =)

I haven't made it back to the dyno since I completed the swap due to KR issues. I am hoping that DHP fixing the VE table issues will help, along with filling my tranny mount with urethane will correct some of the KR problems.

Before I put down 143.2 HP with only a Borla catback, so only time will tell.
