  • what electronics needed to put 3400 topend on a 3.1 firebird

    topic? im talking about from the heads up, all 3400 parts, what all computer/electronics will i need?

    ok we need more information on your firebird that haves a 3.1? we need to know if its a mpfi? tbi? before we can give you any information on the 3400 parts

      it is tbi, i thought they all were, which is why i didnt mention it previously.

        then just do a complete search on switching from tbi to mpfi or maybe SFI there is alot of topics on this

          quit wasteing time and money on a v6 especially in a firebird.

            Its not TBI no f-body V6 ever was. Your MPFI will run the FWD MPFI aswell
            1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma
            1990 4Door, 3.2L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. 4X4. Trooper

              this is what my motor looks like...


              so what you're telling me is that i could swap pistons, heads, upper & lower intake manifold along with tb, & all the stock electronics would run it just fine, i would just have a distributer other than coil packs?

                thats def MPFI, yah you'd just keep the distributer,you don't need the pistons

                better then you is right the only tbi's in a f-body are the 305 and the 2.5 in the Sport Coupe firebird's

                    Why not just swap the manifold and plenum to a 93-95 Camaro 3.4L setup? It would improve flow and be alot cheaper than the other swaps.

                      i know theres some differences between the 3.4 and 3400 but definitly a thought if it'd work

                        so if im ok with the higher compression i can swap heads, intakes, & tb's hook it all up to the stup stuff without having to modify anything, & it will run fine?

                            That's for a 231ci engine, aka a 3.8L. So I'd have to say it won't work on a 3.1L.
