WOW, I can't believe the mis information in this thread......

First of all, You don't need to know what's in teh car now for electronics, since it will have to change anyway.

Second of all, you can't keep the dizzy with the FWD intake manifold, and to use the FWD heads you also have to use the FWD manifold, ergo, no dizzy and conversion to DIS is needed, UNLESS, you want to build a custom intake or dizzy.

In my conversion (1985 GMC Jimmy), I went from Carb to EFI, so I had to add a harness to mine, you MAY be able to get by with just modifying your existing harness a little bit. What ECM is in your car? I believe it's a 7730 style ECM. If you can get the service number and possibly a picture, this will determin what harness modifications are needed.

To use the genI block with the GenIII top end you will also need to create a crank trigger for the DIS. I did this by creating a wheel that mounts between the crank pulley and balancer. Then a bracket to hold a factory CPS, which was made adjustable.

You'll also need to fab up some headers or manifolds due to the very different bolt patter and port shape from the genI heads to genIII.

Oh and for those ney sayers about the V6, Go fuck yourselves, I'm sick of hearing that shit on F-body and S-series borads, if you're going to say that shit, leave this board now you're are in the wrong place. Besides, my hybrid is quicker than many SBC equipped vehicle out there, for much less money.

dude, you need to stick to one thread for this swap instead of opening a new one for every question. there is a motor swaps forum, cant a moderater move this to the apropriate place?

swap in a newer 3.4sfi from a camaro. it bolts right in, i think you can even fit the distributor with the 3.4. add some headers, make a nice CAI. i think they were 160hp stock, do some simple readily available mods like intake, headers, high flow cats, and cat back exhaust and you'll be happier with the simpler swap. maybe you can swap in a rear end with steeper gears to put more pep in its step.

you seem to be looking for easy (hell i want easy somtimes) and thats about as easy as it gets. a hybrid swap is going to get you stuck fast.

when i first signed on this forum i was stupid. i've halted my project to learn what i did wrong so i can correct it and to learn more so i can do it right this time. you can see what works and what doest here and decide what you want from there withing the reasonable limits. I've learned more here than i did high school.

honestly, your best bet if you want to run gen 3 heads is to start with an f-body 3.4l block. use a 3.1l/3.4 crank, 3400 pistons, 3400 heads and intake. you will need to run a hydralic or solid lifter cam (no hydralic roller). you will need to change the accessory brackets, your exaust will need to be custom (either build headers or build downpipes from the 3400 manifolds).

as for wiring, you have a couple options. you can mod your factory harness for one. you are actualy able to run dis off the distributor harness and ecm, just gotta rewire it. im sure you will also have to lengthen/shorten wires. the other option is a 3.4l f-body harness. this is likley the easiest bet. you may need to change some wire locations for the 3400 intake, but everything is there, as the 3.4l f-body motor is dis to start.

His PCM will run the DIS system thats all I said but yes he needs to change the wiring.
