thought the 96 v6's have a MAF. the ECM will know it's getting more air and adjust for it. thus, tuned!Andy

the need for tuning software is required for fine tuning for more HP. i know someone who had an 87 Camaro IROC-Z and using the stock chip added a paxton S/C on it with 6 psi, stock engine. yes, that had a MAF. It did just fine. However, the S/C kit did include water injection. without that, it'd detonate like hell.Andy

Tuning software has many more uses than just fine tuning for HP. Switching from N/A to boosted applications require substantial tuning changes to the PCM. The water injection was only a stop gap measure and should NEVER been needed for just 6 PSI. Trying to use N/A timing for a boosted application is stupid. The timing tables for both applications are completely different.
I'm sure that engine ran just fine for regular driving. During regular cruise conditions the engine is still operating under N/A conditions until boost kicks in. Yet, I'm sure it was lean when wide open. Know how many miles have been put on the car since the S/C install?Your local OBDII moderator

if tuned yes and traction it could have done a hell of alot better but its possible to run stock pcm's with boostsigpic

Stock computers don't tune themselves. They adjust...but thats far from tuned. After messing with phil's grand am in stock condition, i can tell you the stock tune isn't tuned too well. Fueling was off, and quite a bit of KR. Throw a ported 3500 plenum and 65mm TB....more KR, more fueling issues. This is MAF...supposedly able to compensate better than MAP. What a joke. I should add this shit to the myth page cause its so wrong its not even funny.
End of post...im writing an article.Ben

2. At 10 PSI, it had KR out the ass unless the larger injectors were so big it drowned the KR. Once again this is a stop gap measure. Stock timing should of been reduced.

Feel free to help me make it more clear cause im kinda tired and I gotta go flowbench a set of heads. I know what im thinking but I don't think I wrote it too clearly:P I didnt even touch base on the MAP setup (wrote stuff on it, then realized I was jumping around way too much).Ben
