  • air/fuel gauges what works

what would be the best a/f gauge to use for my 95 4 wire o2 sensor.

i guess i'm assuming this isn't a wide band o2 sensor or a digital sensor.
so would a nice narrow band gauge setup work?

IMO, not if want to "trust" it while in open loop.

well no it won't be for "open loop" reading just in general like when i'm running at the track. etc. etc.

i'd run a narrow band since a wb is a little pricey, narrow bands tell you if your running rich or lean but not how much of one you are.

if ur n/a then i wouldn't worry. i ran a nb for 8 mons no prob boosted

Which at the track your PCM will be in "open loop" during the entire run...

so a universal one wire would work just fine then.

If you are looking for somethin cheap that is better than nothing, yes. If you are looking for accuracy, no.

what would be a better choice for more accuracy.
and instead of having to buy another o2 sensor and a bung. i could just tap my 4 wire o2. couldn't i?

a heated o2 is better then a non heated for narrow band, to use a nb you have to tap into some o2 sensor lol so the 4 wire would be it.

wide bands are the most accurate

well not that i was trying to sound idiotic. most of the gauges i've been looking at for the last while all say may work. but also say need o2 sensor kit blah blah blah part# blah blah blah. so as i have always heard better to ask a dumb ? than not ask at all and screw it up.

i have and will be dumping a whole lot of cash into this vehicle.
since i dumped more than 2200.00 in her last year an just 5 mins ago droped almost another 1000.00. i am only making sure i get what i want the first time out. i know a good bit when it comes cars to repair and maintain. tuning to electrical.pcm and other items i have never dealt with are still fairly new to me so bear with me if you think its a dumb ?. i want it right. and make sure i do it right.

I use a PLX (M-250 + gauge) wideband myself ( http://www.plxdevices.com/M-Series_productinfo.htm ). There are quite a few companies, and the costs have come down over the past few years. They are still a tad pricy. The big question is, if you are lean or rich at the track, what would you do to correct the problem? I'm typically not looking at all my gauges at the track besides the critical ones. If the WBO2 goes too lean, I would prefer to trigger an alarm on my laptop.

(and no, it does not flash "danger to manifold" shortly before the floorboard falls out...)

hopefully with all the items i got will work together to correct and problems of the fuel sort.

                            msd dis-4 ignition w/coils
casper elec. adjustable fuel pressure regulator
and the new volt, water temp a/f gauges and triple a pod
hopefully it won't be big problem

well i also just purchased a used laptop and got carbytes so it will datalog & read my pcm since its the 8192 baud and from what i've read its the only program that will read 8192 baud.
