Im just curious, how much of a diference in sound does the stage 1 Cam from milzy motorsports make a 3400 Grand Am sound. Is it mor Radical or does it just give it a lope.
Uh.... no. Todd is actually just using a stock replacement cam. He was going to go with a custom grind from CamMotion, but they could do the small lift that he wanted.
Did you order the NA cam? I've seen in your other threads you have the RSM vortech supercharger. The stage1 NA cam wouldn't really be a good cam for you. You'd probably still get some power from it, especially off boost low rpm power, but you'd miss some of the peak power gain because it has more valve over lap than stock which is meant for the NA applications. If you got a stage 1 boost grind you'll be ok. I got one and it has less valve over lap than stock (more lobe seperation).
Sound wise, it's louder at WOT of course, but I didn't notice a lot of volume increase at idle. The idle is a little rougher, and you do need to increase the idle speed to keep it running right since it has significantly more lift and duration. You also lose some vacuum because of this. It doesn't have a big lopy idle like an NA cam though. That's caused by overlap. I've heard a stage2 NA cam'd car, and the idle is more loppy, but it doesn't sound like a big block camaro or anything. Fuel injected computer controlled cars usually don't run as much overlap as older carburated cars.

Gotta love boost!
I'm not 100% sure about the sound of the Stage I, but the Stage II is noticeable, but as Aaron said, not a V8. You can get rid of some of the lope by increasing the idle to say, 950rpm (which is what I did).
Not for boost
