I told the machine shop that if they get any iron head 60V6 heads that I want them for practice. They give me their junk heads to mess with so long as I bring them back so they can get the scrap money for them

There have been people posting CFM rating on the genIII heads of up to 240 CFM, I know some 700 HP SBCs that don't flow that much.
Really it's not just about how much you can flow, but how you can utilize that flow.

doesnt the port shape and size also determine when the power comes in?
i'm not sure if the iron actually have smaller ports than the aluminums, its been a while since ive been that deep in my old motor. but if the iron heads give a broader torque curve at lower rpms, that might be why they were in more rwd, and heavier vehicals.
lets not forget the better design of the combustion chamber, allowing for better control of higher compression ratios and better handling of higher boost levels. except for curtis's heads, didnt he have the chambers re-shaped?If you aren't friends with a liar, you aren't friends with anyone.

I knew someone did it.
i posted a link in the "buy,sale,trade" section to an auction on ebay for a rare setup for rwd iron head with the hilborne style injection, maybe that'd look cool in your replica, and help you towards your 200hp goal as well, i know you were looking for a carbed setup tho. Hell if my cavalier was rwd i'd be all over that like a fat kid on cake. it'd just look realy wierd sticking up out of my hood sideways...If you aren't friends with a liar, you aren't friends with anyone.

Besides, it's been proven countless times so far the integrity of the GM 660 heads is not a question. It always seems to be a piston or rod to fail plenty before a head cracks.
Most recent example I can think of is 89jy's turbo 3400, He's laid down north of 300 HP at the wheels, on a stock 3400. Yes he has had one 3400 fail and that looks to be because of piston skirt failure, the heads AFAIK were fine.
but we cdould sit here all day and go back and forth about which heads to use.
Myself, I stick with the aluminium heads, and will attemp to get north of 700 HP from the OEM offerings, if I do, excellent, if not, I'll find something to change until I do.
*Disclaimer* I'm still collecting parts for that engine, the Frankenbeast, and am still looking for a chassis to put it in.
The Franken60, that is in my Jimmy will be making north of 350HP.
