  • More fun... :) 12psi coming soon!

Finished file-fitting my rings. No wonder I broke the last set, they were 1/2 of MINIMUM spec, out of the box!!

Ended up going with .022" on top, and .026" on the bottom

    PermaTorque Severe Duty Head Gaskets:

    ARP Head Studs:

Now, question is - when I actually tightened down the head studs into the block, do I need to coat them with a little oil?

I believe ARP recommends a little bit of oil on the threads, 5w-30 IIRC.

You may want to clean that deck surface off better, looks like there is still some work needed there.

And I hope you put some thread sealer on the studs.

ARP sells assembly lube. But honestly you can use any assembly lube.

Their torque recommendation is different if you are using oil, or thier lube...

I believe it is 65 ft/lb if you use the ARP molly lube. More with 80 weight oil...

Most assembly lube is moly lube. My GM stuff is.

Sure... I was just trying to contrast between moly lube and oil...

So how do you lube the threads of the stud if you have to seal them as well.. wont you get some kinda chemical reaction and then oil will come out your bolt holes?
