  • Mod list, need help and suggestions

I have a '95 Grand Prix SE with the 3100 and have the opportunity to do a mild rebuild. My ultimate goal is to make 200hp to the wheels or as close as possible. But like I said nothing major, i.e. engine swaps or turbo kits. Here is the list I was planning on:

    P&P Intake Manifolds
P&P Heads w/ LS6 springs and SI valves
P&P Exhaust Manifolds w/ Heat Wrap
    Full 2.5" Exhaust
    62mm TB
    Underdrive Pulley
    New Plugs, Wires. and Ignition
    Custom Cam (I was thinking either 206º intake / 210º exhaust (@ 0.050" lift) and a lobe lift around 0.295" or 206/212, .282/.292 lift @112)
    Crank Scraper
    Possibly 1.6 Rockers

Now I have some questions. How does this set-up sound? Will it get me close to my goal? How hard is it to swap on 3400 intakes and heads? What parts would I need? Any other cam options? I plan on using the stock computer, maybe some dyno tuning, but I need something streetable because this is my daily driver. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Sorry about the long post, but I only get to do this once and want to make sure that it's done the right way. Thanks.

3400 heads and intake will bolt right on. would be a worthwhile thing. you could get the 3400 stuff ported for more gains. the rest of the list sounds good. i wouldnt bother heat wrapping the exaust manifolds, no real gains there, just rots the stuff out. id rather get them ceramic coated, or get headers.

Stay with the stock valves. The SI valves will reduce flow. The heads will still flow more at a higher lift. If you are going custom, I'd go with .490/.510ish since the heads can take more lift, and I'd go with more of a 210/216 duration. I believe the 95 3100 already has 1.6 rockers. You can also get an underdrive pulley from http://www.fastfwdperformance.com/ Said to gain about 10 HP at 5500 RPM. I noticed a gain at topend.
