  • 3400 overbore?

I’m sure this has been discussed before. I tried a couple of searches and didn’t find anything.
How much bigger can a 3400 block be bored?
Can a 3100 block be bored to the same total dimension?

No it is not safe to bore a 3100 to even equal a stock 3400 bore. But a 3400 can be over bored. I am not sure what the max is before you chuck the block. Are you aiming to increase displacement or to clean up the block?

      I wouldn't bore anymore than .060 max.

However if your just cleaning up to put new pistons in .020 or .030 is all you need. That way if you have issues you can still overbore the block once more down the road.

Quite a few ring options with .020...

Am I going to see much more power .060 vs .020 or .030? Im assuming 3100 is .060 max too?

No, we're talking 1-2 HP maybe.
