  • Removing or Modifying Timing Disc on Crankshaft

Does anyone have any knowledge about how much the timing disc in the middle of the crankshaft on later model GM 60° V6s can be modified to reduce rotating mass? Info? Links? Anything?

It is a heavy little chunk o' metal and removing it (if practical) would add greatly to available power.

    Thank you,
    sg99

P.S. Yes, this assumes the replacement timing disc will be outside the engine, and much lighter as well.

Yes, I have seen info on how and why to reshape it, the only place that I know of is in one of my "GM Power" books, I'm sure there has to be something online though.

That mass is needed. If you make the crank too light it will not be able to be internally balanced.
