Step one, Cut the race, remove the race and bearings.

Step two, use the torch to heat the race red hot.

Step three, Use air hammer with chissel bit to hammer/slide bearing race off..

Thats how everyone I've ever worked with in a shop does it. At both dealerships I've worked at.

Step 2: Use press to remove bearing

Total time about 1 to 2 minutes. Damage factor 0

Yeah.... but how much does this press cost? And will the number of times you'll be using it offset that cost?

You dont even need a press there are bearng puller tools that will do the same job. But Colin works at a dealer so they must have a press.

hahaaa. Yeah its the largest cheapest shodiest piece of shit I've ever had to work with. The press at my old dealer.... which at the time I thought was terrible is leaps and bounds better than this one.

I make suggestions/complaints about tools we are lacking. Nothing gets done. We don't have the proper bearing removal tools.. Even if we did they'd go missing and you would not be able to find them a year from now anyways.

Can only do so much with what I'm given. Not excuses. Real life.
