Well this is for a Gen 2 MPFI, so would all this apply to my setup?

LS6 retainers, LS6 Springs, Gen 2 Seats, Gen 2 stem seals all in a Gen 2 MPFI.
I am going to say "Yes!" . Just to make sure I don't buy anything I can't use.

As long as you have the same valve stem diameter than I'd say yes, it should all work.

i read throught this post. since the talk was a gen 2mpfi. i'm going to ask the ?. would this same set up work on a 01 3400.
i read the final choices were ls6 springs w/ retainers, and gen 3 seats.
just curios. was think of getting the crome moly rods that would do the same to reduce valve train float in the upper rpm's. if this set up would work it would be a tad easier to do than rods at this point.

ok since i am not planning on a cam change in the near future. would the
ls6 springs be too much for the stock cam? should i just use ls1 springs for now.

as i see it would be either ls1/6 springs
                  ls1/6 retainers
                  stock locks and seats

                  or am i confused?

Locks and retainers are the same. They both use 8mm diameter valve stems.

You could use LS6 springs on a stock cam, but they are probably overkill unless you plan on using a lot higher rev limit than stock.

Before I switched cams I used LS1 springs on my 3400 w/stock cam for a while and they worked just fine. Open pressure is almost the same as the stock springs, but seat pressure with the valve closed is a little higher. Overall they are just a tad stiffer than stock which should prevent any float at close to 6000rpm.

I had LS6 springs in my old engine with stock-everything else (used my old heads during a changeover to roller rocker arms and I had them assembled with those springs). I want to say it was better at 5500rpm+ but also the engine had 120k so the stock springs were probably even weaker.

so the basic's would be ls1 springs and reuse all the old retainers and locks until i do a cam change over.
if i did use ls6 springs would it cause to much stiffness in the valve train?

just want to know in cause the ls1 are hard to come by.

The LS6 spring shouldn't be too stiff for the stock parts, so if you plan on adding a cam later, might as well put them in now. Either spring should be readily available and cheap.

Um... call them and find out? I have no clue. My dad worked at a GM dealership so I just ordered everything thru him and got them for wholesale. I'm pretty sure you can get them on gmpartsdirect.com too though.
