  • ffp 3.1L pully - looking for info

if anyone has one sitting around, would you be so kind as to go measure the back of the pully for me?

i am looking to see if there is room for 1/8" holes about .120" deep.

    thanks

im guessing your trying to lighten the pulley....... but why? to light and you get into harmonics issues without a balanced engine and that can tear it apart, its just one of the things that helps keep those harmonics in check

      Could be for something else...

I know a couple years back, I was talking to Michael about doing a custom one with holes drilled for magnets to trigger a CPS for a standalone.

yeah, that was my other thought, especially with a depth specified

The back edge, or rim, of the pulley is 0.25 inches wide and there is
approx 0.125 in from the back edge before the first groove for the belt
rib. It looks to me like there is enough room to mount the magnets. Hope
          this helps.

          - well thats pretty much the same as stock, so its tight but do-able.

second thoughts... worthwhile to do the work on a slightly smaller UD pully instead of using the stock crank pully? it'd cost me about 150$ (canadian) to get that pully up here by the time its all said and done, where as i could use that money for the machining.

and yes this is for a standalone cps pickup. it requires 3 magnets each at 120* apart from eachother, just that i'd rather have the pickup on the rear rather then the front, hopefully out of harms way

              SDS em4-f

its a pretty simple system actually, and had everything that i wanted. most people see the price and what you get, and freak out (well from the guys i've talked to from around here) but the local race / track shop uses it in their 8 hour endurance racing etc. i'm using my own coil packs so that helps out in the cost dept as well. i like it because of its simplicity, no need for a laptop, its got the nitrous retard, many more, and their customer service is amazing.

i never did get a reply from holley about nitrous jet sizing

I am looking at the same thing but I am going to try to machine the cuts in the front side of the pulley. If that won't work then we are going to add a trigger wheel on the front. I am checking for a good position to mount the pickup so I can determine the final layout now. I am using an electromotive tec3r. It has a higher resolution crank sensor. Uses 60+2 teeth.
