  • Dyno Results

I got my dyno results today. Keep in mind this is on a mustang dyno which read somewhat lower than a dynojet. The dyno was done by Exotic Performance Plus in Columbia City, IN and I would recommed them to anyone in the area.

Both runs were done with the tranny sensor unplugged to default it to 3rd gear, Stock programming, and with a borla catback fully connected.

My car is a 2001 Grand Am GT with approx 31,000 miles only mod is a borla catback.

My First run on a somewhat cooler engine put down 143.2 HP to the wheels with torque at 200.6

My Second run with a warmer / hot engine put down 136.7 HP to the wheels with torque at 205.7

    2000 Grand Am GT
    2011 Chevy Impala

Yes, there will be a few more mods hopefully before summer. Next on the list I will be working with sappyse107 to install a 3500 intake manifold and larger throttle body along with tuning time on the dyno. I know alot of us on here are wondering the actual gains of the 3500 manifold setup.

After the 3500 manifold is done, I have the following that I will be installing.

        TOG Headers
Ported and Polished Heads with LS6 springs
        Ported LIM
Possibly thermal coating the intake manifolds
        Cold Air Intake

i would swain thermal coat the intake and exhaust and while your into the heads look at their gold coating (i think thats the one) for your valves

On the 4T60-E the plug is right up front. Its got 5 pins or so, round deal. Hopefully its the same on yours, or you will have to wait for the proper info:P

Its amazing to see how much extra power is lost through that 4spd auto.

stock 3400 V6 with exhaust and CAI slapped in a 5spd Jbody will put 165-170 HP to the wheels.

So whats the plans now for your car? Its good that you baseline dyno'd it, Now you can see where and how much gains you get when you do something else. Planning on a cam or anything?

What brand of dyno did you run it on? Mustang Dyno's are more conservative on the HP ratings compared to a Dyno Jet ... AKA (Ego Jet)

Next on the list is the 3500 manifold and larger TB then back to the dyno with Ben to tune everything with my DHP tuner.

After that I have a stash of parts in the garage waiting for me to install which consists of TOG headers, Dr. Speed CAI, Ported LIM, and I will probably get my spare set of heads ported. A cam is something that I am considering at the moment, but we will see if I go with a regrind or one from Milzy/Cammotion.
