I'm half tempted to get a set of Harland Sharps and try them. Maybe I'll see what the money situation is like in a few months and pick up a set.

when the width of the stock rocker is measured, is that the width at the fulcrum? I had emailed a few companies that sell "narrow body" rockers for centerbolt covers, and so far one replied.
"Thanks for your email.
Yes these are narrow body rockers designed for centerbolt valve covers. The trunions are end to end 1.525" and if it helps the rocker body is 1.175".
Nice set of rockers sold many.............."
I really need to get a spare rocker to measure but since I dont I figure I would ask.Stephanie

Yeah, I'm gonna beat this thread into the ground. How about:
Create a pedestal (like on the stock rocker) in the same dimensions, with a 3/8 hole. Then to tighten down a narrow body SBC rocker arm onto the pedestal with a grade 9.8 10mm-1.5 x 60mm bolt.
Does this seem too insane? Easy way to get zero lash with no guide plates, and would beat the $152.34 for the special studs by buing the bolts, and you could reuse the pedestal (need to drill them out a tad) off stock worn rockers...
(Am I beating a dead horse here?)
My only concern is the prospect of having my block balanced and blueprinted, it would be a shame to have cylinders "off" due to the stockers not being precisely 1.6...

Yes you could do that provided the rocker seats on the pedistal right.
You would not need to drill the pedistal on the older motors because they are already 10mm. However all 3/8" rockers will need to be drilled out because 10mm is larger than 3/8" Or perhaps get rockers for 7/16 studs.
Another new option is Crane or Comp self aligning rockers. This would eliminate the need for plates and hardened rods. Comps Pro Magnum rockers have quite a small profile and are avalible in 1.6 ratio. I bet they will fit without any mods to the upper intake. The studs for either 8mm or 10mm stud holes are avalible from Comp, Crane or ARP. But I think ARP actually makes all of them.
But we still have not solved the issue of where to get 1.7 or 1.8 rockers1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

What are the part #'s for the Comp and Crane Self Aligning Rockers? I looked on their sites but I was still unsure which ones would work. Looking to put something in a 2001 3400 engine.2000 Grand Am GT

After re-reading what I had posted, I must have been on crack. Just wouldn't work out since the rocker would typically sit on a stud (didn't quite picture this in my mind to well, I will blame my geek side...)
As for using ARP studs, I found them over at Summit:
I'm curious if that is for 12, or 2....

I'd steer clear of the "self aligning" rockers, the Magnum roller topped ones anyway. We had a couple that didnt't "self align", and destroyed the alignment discs and just a piss off for down time to order one rocker, etc.
I haven't used the extruded full roller self aligners, but I believe they have a better roller tip for this.
I still would rather put in guide plates from a genII/early genIII and be done with it.

On the Magnum rockers there is no disc on the side of the wheel. It is cast or formed into the body. The 4.3L V6 uses this method even on the stock rockers and the guide is not even as big as the one on the pro magnum rockers.
It woorks good in theory but I have not tried it.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma
