Room for turbo plumbing could be very limited, due to the limited space available because of the steering linkage, brake hydraulic lines and ABS components, and also having the transmission in the way. I would be inclined to think that a supercharger setup like the one from RSM Motorsports might have a bit more room to work in this particular application.
Bobby, I can remember reading the Air Ride Technologies catalog last year, and in their catalog, they list air bags for the front of the Venture vans, because the front suspension is the same as the W body cars. Unfortunately, there wasn't a listing for any rear suspension components for the minivans, as their rear suspension is different than the W body cars. If you're interested in trying the 3500 upper intake plenum on your Venture, I have one available. Judging from what I read on boards like this, it does take some work to make it fit and work properly on your vehicle.

isnt the rear suspention a solid axle with struts??? if so, just drop some donut bags onto the struts and there ya go.

as for turbo, this is one situation i would deffinitly do a remote mount. now im not saying mount the turbo right at the back, but somewere under the floor would work out ok. even so, right at the back means a longer charge pipe (no this doesnt mean more lag nessesaraly) and that means more tempeture drop between the turbo and tb (the sts turbo is advertises 50% drop in temps).

      just an idea.

you started out saying you didn't want to go too wild with it, and that's respectable as it is probably somewhat of a family vehicle and you just wanna put a little more oomf into it. For some reason everyone started talking about all kinds of stuff that is gonna put reliability down the tubes.

Maybe I'm off track here, but if you want a bit more hp without killing your wallet and killing your engine, then I suggest a mild boost, and keep the rest stock.

There's two ways you can do this, if you so choose:

        1) Dump $3,000-$4,000 into a supercharger which is alot of fun, but not enough bang for the buck in my opinion. WAY overpriced.

        2) Get an entry or mid-level turbo, like 5-8psi max. Half the price, and twice the fun. Now you dont have to change pulleys and crap to change boost levels, just tweak the boost controller quite easily. I'm getting my turbo setup through germ at DonkeyPunchPerformance because I've talked to alot of people that say how great his prices are, and he seems to be full of knowledge on them.

I think his entry level turbo kit is around $1,700 regular, but is nearly $1,550 on sale through the 7th of January. And that, my friend is a bargain.

a remote mount turbo would fit your application well since you have a higher groud clearance which means plenty of ways to route the charge pipe and the best part is theres no need for an intercooler and you dont have to tear up the engine bay as most work is done under the car, its like replacing a muffler instead of installing headers, alot easier and most sts dealers can adapt a turbo to just about any vehicle

oh and theres no more chance of getting water in the intake than there is with a CAI, and there are sheilds and those k&n water sock things

that with ported heads and lower toped off by a 3500 UIM would give you more than enough power to get the groceries and "take out the trash"

I gotta admit, I'm not a big fan of the rear-mounted turbo, but in his case, that might be the ticket. It's a long way from the compressor to the TB though

I'd be just getting some boost pressure about the time to let off the gas.

Well, it's not exactly an autocross machine afterall, and I suppose that if you kept the charge pipe away from the exhaust, ya shouldn't really have to spring for an intercooler.

in reality, the charge pipe acts as an intercooler. there is a lot of heat loss in that long pipe. and as for the charge pipe being so long, think about the volume of air in a typical FMIC.

and on another note, the long charge pipe if kept away from the exhaust pipe could act as an intercooler so you wouldn't have to buy one

This guy isnt' going to do any of these things. First he said turbo, then internal mods and intakes and heads, then to nitrous. Dude is just stoked to be driving and has no idea what to do or the money to do it.

eh, it's a possibility you're correct. But in case he decides to go through with it, he now has some viable input from us, as he reqested. I dont mind.
