  • 2000 3x00 top end question

I found a 2000 lumina at the local pull a part with the entire top end intact, is it worth my time to pull all of it? I figured I'd only need the uppermanifold, fuel rail and throttlebody to upgrade my 1995 3100.Total cost about 80 bucks. Or should I pony up 200 bucks and take the whole engine and figure out why it ended up in the junkyard?

    help...

You want the heads and all. The 00+ has the larger ports and valves in the heads.

it would prolly be worth it to pull the whole engine if its not the reason the car is in there

You would also need the lower manifold as the newer plenum will not bolt to the old-style lower manfiold.

Yeah, I say grab the whole engine if it's not too much $$$ and swap over the heads, upper and lower intakes, TB... the whole shot. You'll need all those parts to work together and you'll get the most gain from it that way.

yeah, i might just do that, this way I'll have the top end I need and all the parts for the OBD II swap if the engine isnt worth rebuilding

but if it is I'll probably just swap it in after its turbo'd

well, i guess i'll be getting the whole engine seeing as how my water pump locked up on I-77 yesterday and took the engine with it.

back when my mom had what is now my car, we had to swap in a new engine due to a seized oil pump which pretty much welded the pistons to the block

why couldn't chevy put an oil pressure gauge in the malibu?
