I have seen that Meziere makes a REALLY nice electric water pump for the boat anchor. (aka 3800) I contacted them and they do not currently offer a pump for us in the 660's. This thing would flow 37gpm at the normal level, and 55gph (!!) in race trim. It also ha a 2500+ life Hr expectncy. Anyways, i would like to eiter have a smaller water pump pulley, so i could increase the idle cooling, or possibley try to use one of their remote pumps. Also, their electric pump is good for some extra ponies too, not to mention looks awsome. I just want some more idle cooling for my '95 GA, as it tends to get a little warm at idle, but before everybody tells me to put in huge fans that turn on at 190F and sound like a 747 at the stoplight, just wanted some feedback on the water pump idea. Thanks.

Yeah, i just bought the new"high flow" water pump for the new 3400's. VERY NICE!!! It is ALOT lighter than my 3100 pump, and it has a different impeller design. I replaced my 3100 pump 5 years ago. I can really tell a difference. I am saving the new pump for a long block build this spring/summer. Hopefully that will make a diff. Has any body made a sighlty amsller water pump pulley for thses engines??? 10-15% would make a nice difference for the idle Gph, probabaly just waht I am looking for.Don\'t hate me because I\'m horny.

I don't think you will be able to cool the car at idle. The problem is not the pump but the lack of flow through the rad. Do you have any cooling problems with the fans on? I have a little 11" fan from a toyata and my truck will cool until the thermostat closes.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

I'd check the radiator and how well the car cools with the fan on, yes. If you are worried about the engine temp at idle without the A/C on, the stock cooling fan doesn't usually turn on until the engine reaches 215 degrees anyways.
I too prefer mine too run a little cooler than stock, so I do have an aftermarket fan, but I also run a Howe double pass, all aluminum radiator. On a hot day, at idle, the car will usually stay under the 195 degrees I set the fan too turn on at, unless you sit still for say several minutes. Otherwise, the fan is never on.

Yea my truck can sit for several mins on a hot day before the fan kicks on. But I also have a manual switch so I can keep it at the thermostat closing point.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

Raditor is new, as is hoses, 180 degree t-stat, new heater core too. Pressure tests great. All were replaced this summer. At idle it does stay at 190 or so in the winter, I am just trying to get some ideas for the summer. Looks like the most cost effective is to get a higher efficeny fan and set the turn on at 195 degrees. Also, one of my goals is to have as little temp flucuations as possible, given the aluminum heads and iron block. I want steady, small as possible heat/cool as apposed to getting super cool on the highway, then at a stoplight watch it zing up to 220 and THEN the damn fans kick on. That 40 degree temp Fluc can't be good on those heads/gaskets, expanding and contarcting like that. Thanks for all the help.Don\'t hate me because I\'m horny.

I ran a Flexalite 12 inch fan and a 8 inch Perma cool fan both as pullers in my sunbird with the stock rad, stock 195 thermostat and I never had any cooling issues, even with the heat from the headers in there.
However I did have the Holley unit setup to turn on the fans at 195* which does help compared to stock PCM 215* settings.Colin

Not a lot of room in my engine bay for an electric pump. Using a stock size radiator still limits your cooling capacity anyway. I needed more cooling so I had a custom oversize radiator made instead. Between that and a 180 T-stat and re-programmed fan turn-on temps, it stays pretty darn cool now at any speed.'97 Grand Prix GT 3800 (sold)
