  • Valve Spring Seats

I'm doing the 2.8 to 3.4 swap. I got a used 3.4 from a 94 Camaro but decided to put in the crate engine cam, springs, and retainers. Got all the parts from GM. The stock springs have an insert at the bottom that holds the spring tight around the valve guide. The new springs do not although they have an internal spring. This spring does not hold it tight around the valve guide, the gap isn't much but it's there. Will this pose a problem? The parts list for the crate engine does not list a valve spring seat.

No do not use the stock damper. It is not required with the new springs. Like you say it wont fit anyway.
