    Hard to find misc items...

    Anyone know if anyone makes a brass freeze plug "kit" for the 3400? Pioneer? (Not like there are a lot... lol)

    Anyone have the part numbers for the block alignment/dowels? I ripped one to pieces pulling it out to mount the engine to the stand...

    In the "performance" pages, there is reference to ARP "Main stud info for all 60 degree V6 engines" with all part numbers. Are these up to date (having a hard time finding some of the items)?

    Will I still be able to mount the windage tray?

    Same question for the ARP head stud part numbers.

    Sorry for all the lil questions. I'm sure there will be more down the road...

    Does it have to be "Brass" core plug? I used to get a Hastings (i'm pretty sure it was hastings) Engine block plug kit, Had all the core plugs and all the Oil gallery plugs in it.

    Otherwise I can double check in my tool box tomorrow. I know I still have spares. Just need to order the right core plug size same with teh gallery plugs.

    I don't have a part number for that trans dowl, never tried to look it up.

    The ARP main studs I would wager to guess will not have the right length to accomodate the stock 3400 windage tray. Not to mention the tray would have to be drilled out for the larger diameter ARP bolt due to the stocker main bolts have the extra M8 sized stud section.
    The Main bolt kit should work fine on the gen3 engine.

    The head stud numbers. As long as your looking at these part numbers:

      I assume I would be better off going to ARP directly for the bolts... Summit does not somce up with some of them. May look at options for studs a tad longer for the mains (if length is all I need to be concerned with, no issue on drilling the tray).

      If I ever find the dowel part #'s I'll post them up (surprised I couldn't even find a felpro #).

      As for the plugs being brass, well, it is not required, and I don't "really" even need to swap them out. Just one of those anal things I guess

          Hastings HPK128B Engine Block Plug Kit, I know I have been keeping that remainder left over bits of that kit in my tool box for the last 5 years for some reason. LOL. Its technically a "3.1L V6" kit. But the same shit same core plugs and same sized oil gallery plugs between the 3400 and 3.1L

          Oh and the plugs in that kit ARE brass :P

          However if you just need to find plugs then the Size for the 60V6 block is 34.3MM Dia core (freeze)plug

                    Don't know about any of the other stuff. Can help you on the head studs though. ARP doesn't sell them direct, only thru retailer. Summit carries them all, this is what you need...

                    ARP-300-8333 (7/16-20, 12 point nut). 10pack, order 2
                    ARP-200-8530 (7/16ID-13/16OD washer). 10pack, order 2
                    ARP- ATP54LU (short stud), order 8
                    ARP-ATP46501LUB (long stud), order 8

                    That will give you enough of everything. Total cost about $220.

                        You can get the tranny / block dowel [12338076] from Pace Parts now. In the event there are any other GM parts you can't find, and you are certain of the part number, lemme know, and I'll bug them to add it to the catalog

                            I got a question. What's the point of replacing the freeze plugs? Is there a problem with the stock ones that they won't handle a built block or something? I just haven't heard of anyone else doing this before so I'm curious. What's the advantage of the brass ones?



                            (that's interesting that ARP let you order from them too. When I called them they wouldn't sell to the public and said I had to order thru a retailer)

                              Mainly, no rust... Otherwise, no real benefit.
