Used PayPal Coupon: C1-Holiday2005 for 10% discount, up to $25

    $332.55 Shipped!

Now I don't need to shot peen or buy ARP bolts and wrist pins... I do need to pay $100 for the milling on the journal side, and custom forged pistons (most likely Ross) and do floating pins with spirolox retainers... Oh the pain...

Do they need to be machined on the big end or will it fit as is? Damn good deal either way!

Yeah, I was quoted ~$100 for the narrowing to .854. So when all is said and done, it will still be under the costs of buying them directly from Eagle. (Was quoted $475.00 for them). The seller sent his invoice from when he bought them new on 09/15/2005. After taxes he paid $525.00 for them.

Did you verify wrist pin size too? If I remember correctly didn't the SBC have a larger wrist pin diameter than the V6s?

.927 diameter pin actually. From my first post

Looking at pistons from Ross. Forged of course. .927 floating pin w/ sprirolox retainers (rod width at pin ~1.010). Desired compression ratio of 9:1. Perhaps 0.0625" for rings 1 & 2, 3mm for the oil ring.

After the milling on the rods, they will have almost the same weight as the stock rods... Pretty good because when it comes to the balance work, slugs add up.

Sweet! Someone's building an quite an engine huh? Ross does make good pistons from what I've heard. I think daimond makes custom ones we can use too... I think Schweppe has those, don't recall exactly. You should get in touch with him and see if he has any specs he can give you on what his engine builder did. Might be able to give you some more info? Looks like you've got things pretty well in hand though, and got a great price on the rods. Anyway, looking forward to the final results!

Don't forget to get the bearing Tang notch recut in the rods. Thats going to be the most pain in the ass.

Ruh roh... I don't have my stock bearings or old rods here at the moment. Are the tangs bigger on the stockers? Looks like the machine work may go up a bit it that is the case... (Unless they alredy thought of that) They have compared both in the shop, but I'm betting that wasn't looked at quite yet.

Yep, but the costs are a bit more, which is why I was lookin a Ross. Some of what I am lookin for is in the base custom piston costs. As for talkin to Pat, he is on my cell phone speed dial

The tangs are in a different location compared to the 60v6 bearings.

This is going from info from Curtis who had to have a set modified from Crower (crower rods) If only it was as easy as just narrowing and then slapping them in.

I may have one of the extra rods modified, then send it and a stock one to Eagle.

EDIT: Removed something I was thinking about the 3800...

Are all of the rods from 2.8 to 3400 the same?
