i have the crane 272 came in my 91 3.1L. is this too much cam to put a turbo on?

Probably not, I've looked at the specs and they seem decent for a turbo application.

I'll probably be swapping from my 260 to a 272, depending on how this one looks that I have had offered to me.

i probably should write an article in the boost section but what kind of turbocharger would be good? i was reading over there and there are so many opinions. i dont want instant boost, more like power after 4K. any suggestions?

RE: crane 272 cam with boost..

I have a 2.8 with a supercharger and a 272 cam. I dont think its the best cam for my application but it was a decent price and readily available. I had previously run a 2030 on a older high milage 2.8 with stock heads and a worn out blower, so comparision wise I dont really have any data like dyno comparisons.

who did your chip, and how does it idle? i'm considering this for my future 3.1/3400 hybrid. any drivibility issues?

jet performance did the chip. i had to send them my stock chip and all the modifications to the motor and it came out real nice. i drove the car with the stock chip for a while and then put in the custom one and it was a big difference. the nice thing was that i was never charged for it, so i actually got it for free. drivability wise the car runs nice. way too much power down low and the thing pulls like no other V6 or turbo 4 i have ever been in for that matter. it doesnt hurt that it now has a 5-speed, JBP headers, 62mm throttle body, ported/polished heads and just about everything else except a 3400 top end swap. u will love the midrange power, especially is swapping to the newer intake manifolds, something i might do next year.

sweet deal! i love the down low torque!! make it very flexible. not sure if i still want to keep the 125C though. i'm worried about the torque capacity. what car do you have this in?

its a 91 beretta gt. i used to have the 125c as well and i had it rebuilt and it was nice trans but couldnt handle the new motor. shifting started to get soft so it was time for the 5-speed swap. as with most people here, i highly recommend swapping to the 5-speed if u can

i forgot about the idle. i have it set to idle between 600-700 rpm. motor sounds so sweet with the cam. i always get asked what is under the hood and people do not believe me when i tell them its a V6. it sounds like a big block, just a little quieter. the lope on idle is something u would just have to hear, its that nice

i've heard it in my current stock 3.1. sometimes when i first start it and let it idle and warm up, it begins to stumble and get rough. then, it sounds nice and lopy for about 10-30 seconds and smooths out. i just stand behind it and smile. reminds me of my 455H.O. 66 GTOmmmm....anywho... did you have a stock rebuild on the tranny--shift kit--kevlar clutches--anything? and how long did it last? like i said, i want that cam and the 3400 top end swap so i hope it won't break.

it had a stock rebuild, shift improver kit to correct problems that are common i guess in the trans, i also had a 2750 stall converter from a quad. it was good, it didnt actually fail completely, shifts just werent as firm as they were when it was rebuilt. plus i always wanted this car to be a 5-speed car so the swap was perfect

you know about how many miles the 125 had on it when you noticed it soften?

it had a total of 15,000 on it since it was rebuilt, probably around 12K before it started doing it
