  • Equinox Performance mods

New to the chevy V6. Not sure why I first posted this in the DOHC forum.... D'oh. Got a lot to learn, please be patient with the newbie.

I bought a 2005 Chevy Equinox AWD last year, got 20k miles on it. It's ready for some performance mods. Only ones I've done so far is replacing the air filter with a K&N and removed a extra filter that was in the filter box, it was located on the underneath side of the lid, I think removing that helped more than the K&N.

    Here's what I'm thinking:
First thing Air In and Out
Custom Cold Air intake (Ram Air hood scoop?)
Full custom exhaust Header to tail pipe.

2nd Computer upgrade (Anyone selling programs to access the Chevy computer?)

    3rd fuel and extra air
N20 (yea Nitrous Oxide Need to start small)
Possible Turbo charger or Eaton Supercharger (there's a arguement either way)

I love a challange, anyone can mod up a Civic.

    RE: Equinox Performance mods

Sounds like a good plan. There are a couple companies out there for tuning the computers, although I'm not sure if any of them have touched the Equinox yet.

        Equinox Performance mods

Believe noone is going to make a supercharger kit for a Equinox anytime soon. When I get to that point I'll need to adapt my own. Sometimes you just have to go for it and not wait for a company to do 2 years of research to release parts.....

Exhaust is on my mind right now. Looking at a 60 series Flowmaster muffler. Question is do I just replace the muffler that is on the SUV or wait till I can do the whole thing Headers back.

Chevy has a resonator and a muffler on the 'Nox.... Looks like it's going to be a hack up job to see how much I need to take off to get the sound and power I'm looking for. Once I get it worked out I'll stop by the local Midas and get some stainless pipes bent up the way I want things to go.

Will take some pics when I do the Exhaust.

Change the piping too. At least everything behind the converter. As far as the resonator... i'd try to keep that. Not sure about the 3400, but on my 2.2 the car always sounded a bit raspy when I added the header and didnt have a resonator.
