couldn't the fuel/emissions be compensated for if you ran megasquirt or another ECU?

what else could be done to lower temps?

in my case, i removed my egr so due to the fact that its a pain to make work with the headers, and my water neck is about 1/4" from the egr inlet in the intake manifold (fiero upper, j-body lower). i could have an egr on it. i would have to make a manifold so i pull exaust off at least one bank, make a tube from the egr-manifold, nd make a hole elsewere on the intake for it. if i didnt pass emmisions testing due to high nox, i would have done it, but i dont need to.

why do people see a need to delete the EGR on a stock car? The EGR doesnt even flow at wide open throttle anyhow. i could understand if you did it because of headers, that makes sense. But all these people are loosing fuel mileage and gaining a check engine light..

its kinda like breathing with your head in a box. of course fresh air will get in, but your still getting some of the stuff you already used. walk around like that for a day and see if the "box delete mod" is for you,

do i see an egr in my cars future? no. why? there was an awful lot of black stuff in the manifolds and the valves were encrusted with alot of black crap, is that good for airflow? maybe its good if some of that gets into the cylinders and starts doing something to the walls... not to mention the heat you're not dumping back into the intake without one.

aside from emmisions i fail to see the benefit of the egr.

I don't think most of the people that are deleting it have stock cars. That's the point. If you have a stock car then sure, there's no reason to do it and there's other things you should be doing to look for power.
