  • Expected price to pay : valve job

    Hello all,

Almost completed the DIY head porting listed on the site. I was just wondering what I should expect to pay for a valve job. I doubt a quality job can be done at home, correct?

You should only do a 3 angle for street duty.

Hope you buy new exhaust valves since they pit at the seat.

You can use SI valves but have an angle cut on the backside. They are 11.99 each I believe.

what he said. Anything with more nicle content would help.

                  What do you mean by
but have an angle cut on the backside
                  ?

I may end up getting these, the price is somewhat surprising...

                  Thanks!

On the backside of the valve near the seat, there is a nice 1 angle cut with a large piece of real estate behind it just waiting to be mowed down. I would love to test different angles and see what can be done ultimately but at that price, research is slow:P I do know the SI valves hurt flow, and im guessing that 1 angle cut on the valve seat area is the culprit. You could possibly have a shop cut a few angles in there but I don't know what degree would be ideal.

i paid $191 for both heads (TGP heads).

that included hot tank/bead blast, new expansion plugs, slightly resurfaced, new valve seals (which i provided), and 3-angle valve job and assembly.
