  • Question involving head gaskets and nitrous

I had built a 3.4 in the past and got good times out of it (mid 13s). The problem I had with the engine was that the stock head gaskets would only last a couple passes on a 100 shot. It had ARP studs and unfortunately cast heads. The block and head surfaces were resurfaced a couple times to ensure that they were straight. Here are my related questions:

Does anyone make a stronger aftermarket head gasket for the 60 degree engines?

Is the deck thickness of the aluminum 3x00 heads thicker than the deck thickness of the cast heads? And then, would they be stronger?

    Thanks,
    Jim

O-ring on the block or head would make a detroit or replacemnt gasket last. You could always go copper head gasket ..which also requires the o-ring.

You can get Aftermarket Copper head gaskets from SCE:

At the top of Page 46, Different thickness' for them too. However if this is a stock 3400, DO NOT use anything thinner than the .050 gasket due to piston to head clearance. If this is an Iron headed 3.4L then don't worry about the thickness issue.
