96' 3100 with roller rocker?

  • 96' 3100 with roller rocker?

    so there is a 96 grand prix with a 3100 at a junkyard.. i was wondering if it would have roller rockers on it.. and if so, would they fit on and older set of aluminum heads??

      Geoff, you need to stay in the iron head world...

      Yes, the engine will have roller rockers, but the rocker will NOT work on a set of older aluminum heads because the older heads don't have the aligning notches in the heads for the pedestals.

          96 could have either. Changeover year. take a peek through the oil fill hole.

            these aligning thingers, are they casted into the heads.. could u quickfab somthing onto the old heads to make them work??

              And here is a shot of the new heads with the notches:



              I'm sure the notches could be machined in, but it might be cheaper to just find a used set of heads with the notches already there...

                sweet thanks.. well, ya i think im going to then try and juss machine them in.. i dont have the time to take off a whole set of heads...

                  You will have to remove the heads to machine them. You can buy Crane or Comp (or any brand) narrow body smallblock rockers and install them onto your engine. Scorpion ones are very affordable.
