  • Another 3.1L to 3400 top end swap question

Alright I've talked to people who have done the swap and I've gotten different stories. Are custom length pushrods needed or not?
Its a 93 3.1L MPFI engine in a beretta, going to a 2000+ 3400 top end (heads and manifolds). If they arent needed that would be GREAT. Save me some measuring. If they are needed, does anyone know the specs so I can just order them?

I believe (although I could be wrong) that the your 3.1 ones should work. I think its the same as the 3100, which has the same basic top end as the 3400. Get some other people's advice thou cause i don't know for sure.

If you are not modifying anything else, such as a performance cam, shaved heads, thinner head gasket etc.. then Yes, you can use your stock 3.1 pushrods.

However, I would highly recommend you check preload after its all together to be sure.

LoL you wont like this much but I compared all my pushrods 2.8, 3.1, 3100, 3400 and they are all not the right size. So you will need custom length pushrods. Unless you think you can get away with it, I would definately check.

this is the same thing i want to do. i have a high lift cam in mine though, and i put the stock 3.1 pushrods in to check for clearance and the engine rolls over fine but im unsure what will happen when the lifters pump up. has anyone done this swap, i sure would like to know what would happen, i dont want to mess up my engine.
          thanks

If u have the old 3.1 like i think u do i dont think u can swap 3400 intake manifolds on without some major work but please correct me if i'm wrong

the stock pushrods are just slightly too long.

you'll need to check for proper lenth and order some custom pushrods. its really not at all hard to do.
