Well ferrea redid their site so I can't find anything on it now. The only mention in their new catalogue is for rolling the stem. They made a big deal out of it on the site before. But what do I know, I don't make valves with unequal margins. heh.

I have SI valves in mine and haven't had any issues and I really doubt anyone is running the spring pressures on their 2.8/3.1 valves that I am.

There you go, guess they are strong then. I was going by what the machine shop told me, and from what I have read about the ferrea valves.

More nicle and stailess compared to our stock valves. Ever seen a 100K mile exhaust valve and seat?

The issue for me was strength. The stock valves are 2 piece and really can't take a lot of spring pressure. The springs I uses a 198 lbs closed, and around 460-470 lbs open. The stock valves would most likely separate (since they are 2 piece), so...

VALVES ARE MADE FROM STEEL OR STAINLESS STEEL FORGINGS FROM BAR STOCK. THESE FORGINGS ARE DONE WITH THE MATERIAL NEAR WHITE HOT. THIS FORMS THE HEAD OF THE VALVE AND THE STEM AS ONE PIECE WHICH IS VERY STONG. ALL OTHER VALVE FORMING OPERATIONS ARE DONE ON GRINDING AND MILLING MACHINES FOR FINAL SHAPE. UNDERCUT STEMS ARE DONE BY GRINDING. THERE ARE ALSO TWO PIECE VALVES WITH THE HEAD AND THE STEM JOINED BY FRICTION WELDING. THESE ARE USED MOSTLY IN O.E. APPLICATIONS TO CUT COSTS. THE VALVES YOU GOT FROM US WILL EASILY WITHSTAND YOUR RPM REQUIREMENTS.

Im not 100% sure I have SI valves. So with that said , anyone who has bought SI valves for an Iron head, were the valves packaged in clear sealed plastic per each valve and are your valve heads concave or flat. I bought mine New but from a private seller who abondened a 2.8 build up for a 4x4, mine were stainless , swirls polished with under cut stems, but the valve head was flat and not concave like the stockers.

Those are stock replacements. Thats about all I can tell you on the SI valves. The pushrod valves I have here are just in need of a backside cut. Weight is not as great of a deal as I thought it was, perhaps the newer stock valves are lighter than the older stock valves?

Id like to price out gun drilling the valves. I am gonna stay away from sodium filled valves until I know what guides to run with them. Probably something old I read that has been fixed with different materials, but they had issues with galling and seizing of the valves.

Lol wait stock replacements? Nah cant be, they were swirl polished and had under cut stems. I went to there web site and the stock replacements dont mention being swirl polished and undercut. (hmm)

Lol I just would assume they are SI but I dont really know. I do know they came in sealed clear plastic wrappers for each valve. If thats typical of SI packaging I dont know .

Its too bad I cant track who makes the true roller timing chain set I got new in the package from a speed shop in florida. I got it off ebay at a good price years ago but it was just on white backboard with plastic laminated packaging. It wasnt listed as cloyes and the packaging and part number werent cloyes. Ive always been pretty good at sourcing parts for the 2.8 but I never traced that one.
